DepEd NCR Palaro Underway. Taekwondo Event Good to Go

Thousands braved the post valentine sun this Monday, to march during the formal opening of the Dep Ed NCR Palarong Pangrehiyon 2009. Teams from all over the National Capital Region are locked and loaded and ready to go for gold. Up for grabs are slots for the next staging of the Palarong Pambansa this year in Tacloban.
Held at the Rizal High School parade grounds, located in host city Pasig. Taekwondo players from all over NCR weighed in after the parade and now await their chance for their own version of the Olympic dream. Action in Taekwondo commences this Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Eusebio High School.
Participating teams include Quezon City, Manila, Muntinlupa, Las Pinas, Paranaque, Marikina City, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Malabon, Taguig,and host city Pasig.
Up for grabs are 6 slots each for Elementary boys and girls, and 6 slots each for Secondary boys and girls. Teams will have their own set of coaches and chaperones as they move forward to the Palarong Pambansa this coming April in Tacloban.
Expect action to get hot and intense as each fight won brings the player closer to the Palaro and a loss means going back to the proverbial drawing board.
Players from both the private and public schools participate in this annual event conducted by the Department of Education, in their thrust to make sports and education accessible to all.
