PBA honors TROPANG TEXTERS

Members of the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters were honored last March 1 by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), as the country’s premiere basketball league opened its 34th Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum. PBA Commissioner Sonny Barrios, assisted by PBA Alternate Governor Ricky Vargas, handed out championship rings to each of the Tropang Texters, for winning the recently concluded 2008-2009 KFC Philippine Cup.



Earlier, Tropang Texters supporters, including SMARTees, gathered at the nearby Gateway Cineplex for a special screening of “Road to Championship”, a documentary of the team’s uphill battle for the PBA crown.



At the screening, the “Road to Championship” DVD was launched. “This DVD is not just for fans of the team, nor is it just for fans of the PBA. This is an inspiring story of our inexhaustible passion for sports, and how it can help make all of us achievers in everything that we aspire for in life,” said PLDT and SMART Chairman Manny Pangilinan.



The “Road to Championship” DVD, bundled with a special-edition Tropang Texters magazine and T-shirt, is available at only P1,000 from Yvette Ruiz (local 2615). All proceeds from the sale will be donated to support the sports development-related projects of the PLDT-SMART Foundation.
