2009 Smart Butch Bacani Summer Tennis Camps

The Summer of 2009 will be the third year of the continuing partnership between telecommunications giant SMART and Butch Bacani. The SMART Butch Bacani Summer Tennis Camps shall be held in three venues this year - Manila, Cebu and Davao. The Manila Camp shall be held at the outdoor courts of the Philippine Columbian Association in Plaza Dilao, Paco, Manila from March 23 to April 24.

There shall be 8 AM to 10 AM sessions for Beginners; 10 AM to 12 NN for Intermediates; and 1 PM to 3 PM sessions for Advanced players three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for a total of 12 sessions.

Camp Director Bacani shall be assisted by Johan Guba, Obet Bayona, Danilo Bado, Boy Frencillo, Henry Bado, and Tony Quiza among others. The Camp is open to children aged 8 to 18 years old. The only requirement for children to join the camp is to buy a Smart Sim card and load worth three hundred pesos.

Butch Bacani trained under the legendary Harry Hopman in the US. He is also a USPTA Certified Tennis Teaching Professional l and a former Philippine Davis Cup Coach and SEAG Coach. He also coached the UP Varsity Tennis Team to 5 consecutive championships in the UAAP from 1995 to 1999. He has been holding annual summer tennis camps since 1983 in various venues and is currently the Head Coach for Grass Roots Development of PHILTA.

The Cebu Country Club and Casino Espanol de Cebu shall share the hosting task for the second camp for three weeks from April 27 to May 16, 2009. Davao Capitol Tennis Club in Sandawa, Davao City shall host the third camp. The Davao Camp dates are from May 18 to June 2.
